Individualized approach to Ergonomics while Teleworking

Finding an efficient working position at home can be challenging. As teleworking becomes more common, unfit workstations and harmful habits often lead to physical discomfort. We all work from a different set-up, which is why a One Size Fits All approach cannot address this challenge. By learning the principles of healthy movement, you will acquire individualized tools and go beyond the general ergonomic guidelines.

By understanding how your body functions, you will become the master of your own ergonomics. In this webinar you will first learn the foundations of healthy posture through practical exercises. After learning these principles, you will apply them to your personal workstation. This approach helps every-body to make postural changes that are useful in their individual situation. Instead of being told how to set-up your screen, you will learn how to efficiently position your head and then adjust your equipment to support this alignment. You will be guided how to sit correctly using your sitting bones, and afterwards learn how to set up your chair from this position. You’ll learn how to move your hands while keeping your shoulders relaxed so that you can eventually find a good set-up for your keyboard and mouse. No matter how well you position yourself, movement remains important. Therefore, I will share some basic exercises and tips to bring more movement and balance to your body while countering the effects of sitting.

Stress- regulation

Stress is a physical reaction that occurs when our system perceives a threat. It served us well thousands of years
ago when we were regularly faced with life-threatening dangers as hunter-gatherers. While we now rarely face dangerous situations, we are often confronted with
intense and extended stimulation, sensory information
and the need to be hyper alert. This triggers the same
ancient stress system, as if we were constantly under threat of a tiger sitting behind our office chair.

You will learn how stress affects you. You will observe what changes physically when you get stressed while developing strategies to calm your system down. The attention-oriented exercises are pragmatic and will serve you as quick tools to apply in your personal and professional life.
